Once the machines leave the production line, they undergo further steps before being shipped to the customer. In order to better manage a large number of units each day, Magni asked Vodafone for a solution to track the position of every machine within the factory yard.

Magni was looking for a solution to automatically locate the machines within the yard and parking areas, in order to streamline certain work steps that take place outside the production line, such as testing and washing. Moreover, the company needed a tool to interface the warehouse management system with the unit tracker on the yard.

Vodafone’s answer was ‘Parking Angel’, a project for the digitisation of business processes that allows for precise and real-time geolocation. In particular, this system facilitates the management of assets within the warehouse thanks to the implementation of an IT architecture integrated with the warehouse management tool.

Sky Light Parking Sensors were installed on the factory floor and in the car parks, as well as a LoraWan triple technology sensor for unit detection via an integrated Bluetooth Low Energy connection for user authentication. The Wirnet iStation gateway is ideal for outdoor installations and is designed for cities, industries or any other smart project. Designed for outdoor spaces, this technology is easy to install and guarantees extensive coverage and operational excellence.

A small automatic check-in device has been installed on board of the units.  Powered by replaceable batteries, it communicates the ID of the user or parked unit to the sensor. At the end of this process, an acoustic signal alerts the user that the authentication was successful. Thanks to this system, when a unit is on a parking spot,  the sensor activates the scanner to detect the token, identifying the unit and the user.

Finally, the ‘YouWorkForce‘ application portal, installed on the Vodafone Cloud, allows to display the units within the parking areas. This system is designed to manage the tracking and logistics on 100 parking spots.
