Continuous cycle machining centres: technological innovation at the new MAGNI TH HQ
Thanks to its innovative HQ, Magni TH is preparing for the future of Industry 4.0. We carefully select applications, manufacturing operations, development, safety and efficiency systems. Every detail of this facility is designed to allow men and machines to work together.
Let’s start by explaining the meaning of the term Andon – borrowed from Japanese – which is essential to better understand one of the distinctive features of Magni new HQ. In manufacturing, the term Andon refers to a system which notifies machine operators of quality or processing problems. These are displayed on screens through light signals, indicating the station on the production line where the anomaly has been detected.
After this brief explanation, we can talk about what will happen in the new Magni production plant that will see the light of day in a few months. All production lines will be equipped with Andon system in order to improve the overall quality of the output but also to increase operating speed and precision.
With regard to machining centres devoted to the most important operations of our production cycle, such as turrets and chassis, we have found a technologically advanced solution which uses a new-generation software that interfaces with SAP internal management system.
Machining cells are always activated by operator command. However, most of the machining processes are fully automatic, thus speeding up the cycle but above all leaving the operator free to perform other tasks.
Mares4.0+ application has been installed in these two machining centres, which are part of a wider Industry 4.0 project. This application allows to interconnect different machines, thus creating what is more commonly known as digital factory. Mares4.0+ application notifies the operator in the event of problems during the working process and objectively reports runtimes and implementation methods in case of delays and breakdowns.
This operational management tool receives information in real time. In Magni specific case, it interfaces directly with the SAP management system in order to make timely and informed decisions, further increasing line productivity.
Thus, Magni TH is preparing for the future, responding to increased production and constantly improving its performance.
