Stage V: performance and sustainability
At Magni, performance and environmental responsibility are concepts that have been coexisting for a long time. In fact, we were among the first to equip our machines with the most environmentally friendly Stage V engines even before the regulation became mandatory worldwide.
Commonly referred to as STAGE V, Regulation (EU) 2016/1628 of the European Parliament and of the Council provides requirements for emission limits of gaseous and particulate pollutants and for the type-approval of internal combustion engines of non-road mobile machinery. Entered into force on 14 September 2016, it also established new guidelines and limits regarding diesel engine emissions for different power ranges and applications. Moreover, this regulation established the procedures engine manufacturers must follow in order for their engines to be type-approved and sold on the EU market.
The Stage V emissions legislation is one of the most rigid in the world and stems from the need for more environmentally friendly off-road engines in Europe. The big difference between Stage V and Stage IV is the 40% reduction in particulate emission limits. Moreover, Stage V engines have lower noise emissions and reduced ownership costs due to lower fuel consumption.
Magni equips its machines with two types of Stage V engines:
- The Deutz TCD 3.6 l4 engine is fitted to TH range models and smaller rotating telehandlers. Available in three different versions (55, 74 and 100 kW), it has been redesigned from an environmental and cost effective point of view. It provides more responsiveness and power and offers 4% more torque than the Stage IV version.
- The Volvo Penta TDA engine is fitted to HTH range models (except the HTH 10.10) and to top-of-the-range rotating telehandlers. It is available in four different versions (129, 160, 175 and 235 kW). Its design allows for extreme compactness, optimised performance and smooth operation.
