All Volvo Penta diesel engines fitted to Magni machines are compatible with hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), a renewable paraffinic fuel produced from either vegetable or animal sources.

Hydrogen is the key component that is added during the production process. The hydrogen combines with the oxygen, removing any water particles from the fuel. This results in a stable and sustainable fuel that can reduce fossil CO₂ emissions by up to 90% (depending on the feedstock).

The main difference between diesel and HVO is that HVO has a substantially higher cetane number (ignitability) and lower density than diesel. This allows to reduce the  particulate (soot) at the cost of a slight decrease in power and a slight increase in volumetric fuel consumption. Used neat or blended, this fuel sulphur-free and should be treated as diesel fuel in terms of maintenance and installation.
